5 Tips From An Intern Who Got Hired

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Michael Siegers is a man who likes a frosty brew. He also used to be an intern for TAXI. Now he’s got a job here.

Here are his Top 5 Tips To Get Hired:

1. Work really fucking hard.
2. Learn from people who know more than you. (Which is everyone)
3. Don’t bitch.
4. Consume all of the free alcohol that you can.
5. Be awesome.

#1 and #3 are the ones that make the agency value you. #2 and #4 are the ones that make you value the agency.

SCOTCH NIGHT

cover shot

It’s been a couple of months since the last one, but we had our second TAXI Scotch Night last night. It was awesome to see lots of new faces out there who were brave enough to try scotch for the first time. Shout out to Gary for drinking it like a man (and not vomiting).

Key learnings of the night? Dalwhinnie is delicious. Té Bheag is unpronounceable (without sounding inappropriate) and tastes like rubbing alcohol mixed with gasoline. Thanks for the “advice” Shearer. You’re a jerk.

Rochus-Jacob-Rocking-Chair

The Murakami Chair’s attached lamp powered by your rocking back and forth. Designed by Rochus Jacob. The Chair’s OLED lamp even senses when it’s light or dark out. And it has a battery pack which stores ‘your rocking’ in the daylight. There are interesting ways of capturing kinetic energy and turning it into something useful. Reminds me of this.

Scotch Night copy

On Thursday, TAXI had our first Scotch Night. Around twenty brave souls of varying degrees of scotch-lovingness showed up. Everyone drank. Not everyone left.

Biggest surprise of the night? The wonderful pairing of scotch and Corn Pops.
