This is a little piece of the internet that I hold dear to my heart for various reasons. First off I’m a nerd, I’ve been watching G4tv since it was tech TV oh such a short time ago. Nightly I used to tune in to the Screen Savers, a nightly recap of the tech stories that happened during the day, I used to go to slashdot on the regular and I envied Kevin Rose for being that kid on my television with what I considered to be a sick job.
To say that I’ve lived these last five years as more of a digg reader than a contributor are true. While I find I’m not using digg and its robust community that much I do however digg stories I like and use it to get much of my day to day information, from RSS to my screensaver from the digg labs I’ve been hooked for a long time.
If your not familiar with digg.com then I would hope that you take the 5 minutes and see what its about. Then if your further interested then visit digg.com subscribe to their feed, watch the weekly podcast and maybe even become a user.
p.s. bucket list goal is to be friend with Kevin Rose. (yes I’m a nerd like that)
This art piece called “A Tool to Deceive and Slaughter” puts itself up for sale on eBay every seven days. The purchaser must agree to a legal contract which includes the following stipulation:
“1. Collector agrees that the Artwork will remain connected to a live Internet connection at all times, with disconnections allowed only for the transportation of the work from one venue to another.”
Maybe you read this blog alot. Perhaps you even found my previous post about Mr. Felton and his annual reports riveting ( i know I did ) Well the newly release report for 2009 is upon us. I encourage you to go and take a look at it since its quite neat. As well you can buy this years 16 letter pressed report over at the feltron shop.
Its no doubt in my mind that I’ve been envious of the work that Danny Yount and Prologue films produce. Some of the finest VFX/Motiongraphics/Title Sequences I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. The astounding care to detail and handiwork stretches further than anything I’ve ever personally done. I wonder how some people accomplish it all sometimes. I know that Danny isn’t alone his team is amazing their collective vision is always spot on for the project and their technical prowess is un-imaginable. Their latest end title sequence for Sherlock Holmes is wonderfully done.
While their site doesn’t allow you to embed videos its currently their featured work on their Film page. I would suggest you check it out. Like to the movie is in the lower corner of the page.
Caught this wonderful video via a twitter friend. Thought I would share. In an age of digital, its really nice to see some crafted work now an again. Nicely shot and edited too.
Watched this yesterday and I feel compelled to have more people watch it. Beautifully done, and entirely done in CGI. EVERYTHING! there are making of videos over at the vimeo page.
If anybody knows me you’ll know I love myself a little data visualization. It marries two things I’m keen on, data and design. If your a fan of either I can suggest you might be interested in the work of Nicholas Felton and a few of the projects hes involved with. (more…)
